All-Russian conference “Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Developmental, Molecular, Cell Biology and Biotechnology of Marine Organisms”
An all-Russian conference with international attendance entitled “Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Developmental, Molecular, Cell Biology and Biotechnology of Marine Organisms (in commemoration of Academician Vladimir L. Kasyanov)” will be jointly held by the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (the NSCMB FEB RAS), and the Primorsky Aquarium – Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS in Vladivostok on 12-15 September 2023.
The conference will mark the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), the Decade of Science and Technology (Decree No. 231 of the President of the Russian Federation, signed on April 25, 2022) and the 300-year anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The conference aims to enhance scientific and professional contacts, to coordinate the development of marine scientific research and to promote the public understanding of marine biology.
The conference program will include the following sessions:
1. Plenary session in commemoration of Academician Vladimir L. Kasyanov. Presentations submitted for this session must cover the following key issues:
- Biota of the Russian waters of the Sea of Japan;
- Global climate change and its impact on biodiversity, biological invasions and biosecurity;
- Anthropogenic effect on marine plants and animals:
- Primorsky Aquarium yesterday, today and tomorrow.
2. Embryology and developmental biology of marine organisms.
3. Cell and molecular biology of marine organisms.
4. Medical and biological studies and marine pharmacology.
5. Biotechnology of marine organisms.
The organizing committee is planning to have a young scientist competition as a part of the conference.
The conference is expected to be attended by leading Russian marine biologists who will give overview presentations. We welcome participation from researchers and post-graduate students, lecturers and professors from universities and scientific institutes.

May 15, 2023 – abstract submission deadline;
August 01, 2023 – registration and poster submission deadline.
