Aquarium on the move: Victory in Aquathlon Open Competition
Another sports accomplishment was gained by athletes from the Primorsky Aquarium on July, 24: three teams got 1st, 2nd and 4th places in Relay in the Aquathlon Open Competition, which was held in Fedorova Bay, Vladivostok.
The results of our athletes are:
- Anna Bykova and Sergey Tyurin’s team was awarded a gold medal;
- Alyona Semenchenko and Igor Enin’s team received a silver medal;
- Elizaveta Chizhova and Vyacheslav Kaloshin became the 4th.
Igor Enin, Lead Engineer at Facility Maintenance, a silver medal winner of the Aquathlon Open Competition, shares his impressions:
“We were overcome with emotion, the water was just fine, the weather a bit rainy, but very comfortable for running and swimming, no waves. It was probably the best competition I took part in.
There were three Primorsky Aquarium teams. We supported our colleagues and rejoiced at each other’s success. It was a team competition, not individual sport, and you were supposed not to let your fellow athletes down, but to race faster and faster, strive to win, move into the lead. And that was awesome!
Each part of the distance was unpredictable, each one had its peculiarities. For example, we did the run leg barefoot over the asphalt and could hurt our soles. We did hurt them, but became aware of the pain only the next day, because at the moment of the race we were ecstatic and felt nothing but joy and delight.
It would be great to have similar sports events on the Aquarium grounds, with their fantastic scenery! And it would also be important to involve other staff members and their children into these events. The distances of the aquathlon were manageable for all, for people aged 5 and over.
And I was impressed by the award ceremony, with all these people around who gave you lots of gifts apart from medals when you came forward. It’s so nice to receive gifts as such, and they also motivate you to participate again and to get up on the podium once more.”
For our athletes, this glorious win is not a reason to rest on their laurels, but rather a stimulus to try hard and to reach new heights. May they achieve better results with each contest and never give up!
