Be your own guide: an audio tour of the Aquarium
The Primorsky Aquarium has launched a new service: now visitors can use audio guides providing in-depth information – available in Russian and English - about all the exhibits.
The audio guide narrates the story of the origin and evolution of life on Earth and tells about ancient fishes and animals, microorganisms, inhabitants of the Amur River and a complex life cycle of salmon species, unique Lake Baikal, reproduction of corals and starfish, old sea legends, the littoral fauna of the Sea of Japan and many other things.
“The audio guide is analogous to an overview tour of the Aquarium but far more detailed and allows visitors greater leeway – they can go on a self-made tour,” said Maria Vitman, Head of the Exhibits Department at the Primorsky Aquarium. “There are signboards with numbers at the exhibits. To hear the comments on a certain animal, ecosystem or exhibit, a visitor should enter the corresponding numbers into the device. If one listens to all the recorded content of the audio guide, his tour of the Aquarium will last for more than four hours and a half.”
The audio guide script written by the Aquarium’s specialists was supervised and finalized by Andrey Adrianov, Academician and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, FEB RAS.
President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeyev was the first to listen to the audio tour of the Primorsky Aquarium.
