International Summit participants visit the Primorsky Aquarium.
On October 31, some participants of the 23rd Local Governments Summit in Northeast Asia, which was being held in Vladivostok, attended the Primorsky Aquarium. The visitors included the Governor of the Central aimag of Mongolia, Jigjid Batjargal, a delegation of ecologists and a number of print press journalists from Tottori prefecture (Japan), Gangwon province (South Korea), Jilin province (China) and the Central aimag of Mongolia.
“I am astonished with the sheer size and magnitude of the Aquarium and the wealth of educational information available here – you can trace the entire evolution of life on Earth”, said Sugimura Shuji, a Japanese newspaper editor. “And though marine mammal shows are a common thing today, the performance we saw in the Dolphinarium was very skillful, and mutual understanding between the animals and their trainers was amazing. We were especially impressed by the walrus”.
The Summit on International Exchange and Cooperation of Local Governments in Northeast Asia has been conducted since 1994. It aims at developing regional economic cooperation and strengthening the friendly ties between the neighbouring countries. Primorsky krai has hosted the Summit for the third time, the international forum was held in Primorye in 2008 and 2013.
