Marine biology in the 21st century: an international conference will take place in Vladivostok
The A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS and the Primorsky Aquarium will jointly convene an international scientific conference, Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Achievements and Development Outlook, from October 6 to 8, 2021 in Vladivostok.
The main purposes of the event are to strengthen scientific and professional contacts, to coordinate the development of marine scientific research and to increase the spread of knowledge on marine biology.
The topics planned for the conference include biodiversity in coastal marine and deep-sea habitats, the history of marine research and the establishment of the Institute of Marine Biology in Vladivostok, marine ecology and functioning of ecosystems and communities, molecular genetic and cytological research on marine organisms, and some others.
It should be noted that the international scientific conference will be held to mark the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation (2021), the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Marine Biology, now called the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology (2020), and the 5th anniversary of the Primorsky Aquarium’s opening (2021).
