New Hydrobionts Arrived at the Primorsky Aquarium

New Hydrobionts Arrived at the Primorsky Aquarium

Tropical freshwater fishes grown in the closed aquaria systems – Chinese high-fin banded sharks (Myxocyprinus asiaticus), Atlantic mudskippers (Periophthalmus barbarus), banded archerfishes (Toxotes jaculatrix), giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy), and blue/brown discuses (Symphysodon aequifasciatus) arrived by a scheduled flight at the Primorsky Aquarium from Vietnam. Delivered in the insulated containers, the fishes that had been packed into the bags prefilled with the water and air bore the air travel well. At present, they are being quarantined in the Scientific-and-Adaptaion building’s tanks and then are going to move to the tanks of the Tropical Rain Forest Exhibit.

In the same way, the Primorsky Aquarium has had received hydrobionts from Japan such as living stones, various invertebrates – starfishes, urchins, and gastropods – all of them caught in the wild. After adaptation, new arrivals will be housed in the Tropical Seas and Evolution of the Ocean Life Exhibits.
