Primorsky Aquarium celebrates World Oceans Day on June, 10
Dear visitors! We welcome adults and children to join the celebration of World Oceans Day at the Primorsky Aquarium on 10 June.
Oceans are part of the biosphere; they are producing most of the oxygen necessary for breathing and thus are called “the lungs of the Earth”. Oceans encourage the development of science, give us resources and inspire us.
The importance of raising awareness about human activities effects on the world’s ocean increases with the intensity of these effects. For more than ten years World Oceans Day has been celebrated by environmental activists around the globe. Biologists, ecologists, staff members of aquariums, zoos and dolphinariums work together to join their efforts in encouraging young generation to learn about unique marine flora and fauna and to protect oceans from the main danger threatening them, human greed.
The theme of this year’s event at the Primorsky Aquarium is art-science collaboration as a way to explore the world. Visitors will examine world-famous works of art from a scientific standpoint and find out how art can spark research.
One of the important parts of the celebration is the award ceremony of the Sea Reflection Regional Creativity Contest, which is to take place in the Сonference Hall of the Primorsky Aquarium. A total of 93 entries have been submitted to the contest, including 73 artworks, 13 movies and animations and 7 essays. An exhibition of most spectacular paintings and drawings of Sea Reflection-2023 opens in the Art Gallery at the entrance to the Dolphinarium. The exhibition is on view through September.
Primorsky Aquarium’s staff members are preparing a variety of activities to attract and enthrall all comers on that special day!
