“Research and Project Ideas Lab”: Primorsky Aquarium shares its knowledge and best practices
An ebook “Research and Project Ideas Lab: Case Method in Environmental Education”, a collection of reports on methodology, has come out and is available online now.
The book features the methodology and best creative works carried out as part of the collaborative “Research and Project Ideas Lab” project launched by the Primorsky Aquarium and the Primorsky Regional Institute for Education Development.
The project explored ways to organize research and project activities among high school students by use of the case method. The project idea was supported by a group of specialists from 11 partner organizations, among which there were some scientific institutions of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, museums, business companies, environmental and educational organizations.
The partners prepared 14 open-ended cases addressing challenges in natural sciences, nature conservancy, commercial production, tourism, and preservation of historical monuments and offered them to 8-11 grade students.
The book is designed for environmental educators, specialists engaged in science popularization, as well as teachers of secondary schools and non-formal educational institutions who need to learn how to apply the case method for school projects.
