«Underwater stories for preschoolers»: A new edutaining program for young explorers
The day before a new school year is the best time to dive into a wonderful world of sea creatures. So, the first session of an “Underwater stories for preschoolers” edutaining program was carried out on 31 August. The new program was developed in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Identifying and Nurturing Talents in Children and Teenagers of Primorsky Krai.
Children of all ages may feel the urge to explore the natural world. It is rather easy to spark scientific interest in little ones: just play with them and use simple language while telling stories about the nature. Tatiana Chernykh, PhD in Pedagogy, Head of the Belyok environmental biology club, managed to keep students totally engaged during a learning session called “Visiting Penguins”.
It was really full of great information. Preschoolers discovered penguin species, their coloration and feathers, as well as basic requirements needed to ensure the welfare of these birds in captivity. Not only did the students learn plenty of fun facts, but they also tried their hands at making crafts showing their favorite penguin.
