Winners of the Ocean of Water photomarathon round announced
We are proud about the grounds of the Primorsky Aquarium. They are amazing, and we are so pleased looking at your photos on social media! We decided to make a good tradition out of it, give you an opportunity to show your talents and reveal the beauty of our walkways, pavilions and waterfalls for the audience.
On July 24, the Primorsky Aquarium organized the first round of Aquarium Through Your Eyes photomarathon. Its title was Ocean of Water. Six themes were announced at 10 a.m. on that day: Liquid Silver, On a Wave of Happiness, Me and the Ocean, The Sea is Rough, A Drop Wears Away a Stone, and a theme for close-up photography, Treasures of Sea Foam. Contestants were to take pictures on the Aquarium grounds and publish them on the Internet with #приморскийокеанариум_фотокросс hashtag by 8 p.m.
We’ve received a bunch of really stunning images! Every picture has its own view, its unique idea, and, from our perspective, it is the most valuable feature of the photomarathon. Anyway, a contest is a contest, and, though it was not easy, we eventually managed to compile a short list of the best photos, those which made the most powerful impression on us.
Liquid Silver Winner – Alexey Kumpan.
On a Wave of Happiness Winner – Vasily Borovik. Vita Maslyi, our special guest (translator’s note – photographer, the main organizer of Ocean of Happiness and Look at Vladivostok photo projects, the latter having been run since 2012), commended this photo for Expert’s Choice Award.

The Sea is Rough Winner (translator’s note –“The Sea is Rough” is a children’s game popular in Russia, in which one child chosen as “it” recites a rhyme while other players move behind his/her back and freeze at the final word in poses depicting marine creatures and objects, which “it” should guess) – Nika Chizh. Our compliments to the photographer who accurately conveyed the tone of the game.
A Drop Wears Away a Stone Winner – Vadim Pokrovsky.

All the winners received small but nice gifts and booked their places in the final. The main prize of the Aquarium Through Your Eyes photomarathon is a free Aquarium admission for four people.
The date and themes of the next photomarathon are to be announced very soon. Lenses of your cameras may very likely capture a great event at the Aquarium. But it’s a secret – shhhh!
