Dear guests! On June 4, 2023 the road from Katernaya Street to the Primorsky Aquarium checkpoint will be closed from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the Marathon.
24.05.2023 – New inhabitants of the Tropical Rain Forest
Several new animals have recently been added to the Tropical Rain Forest exhibit of the Primorsky Aquarium. They arrived at the Aquarium as babies and now they are grown-ups.

18.05.2023 – Primorsky Aquarium takes part in the XIII International Conference “Aquarium as a Way to Explore the World”
The XIII International Conference entitled “Aquarium as a Way to Explore the World” took place in Kogalym in the Aquatika Oceanarium on April 21-23, 2023. Members of the Shared Equipment Facility and the Clinical Laboratory of the Primorsky Aquarium, as well as two laboratories of the National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (NSCMB FEB RAS) (Laboratory of Marine Mammals and Laboratory of Cytotechnology) participated in the Conference.
10.05.2023 – “You could stare at them forever”: a conference with penguin participation gathers penguin fans
A conference devoted to Humboldt penguins was held at the Primorsky Aquarium on 25 April as part of the World Penguin Day celebration.
10.05.2023 – Belyok club members take part in restoration of salmon populations
On April 22, fifteen members of the Belyok, an environmental biology club which is the first stage of the Growing up at the Aquarium project run by the Primorsky Aquarium, went to a fish hatchery to participate in the release of juvenile chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) into the Barabashevka river.
10.05.2023 – All-Russian conference “Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Developmental, Molecular, Cell Biology and Biotechnology of Marine Organisms”
On 12-15 September 2023 the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (the NSCMB FEB RAS), and the Primorsky Aquarium – Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS will jointly hold an all-Russian conference with international attendance entitled “Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Developmental, Molecular, Cell Biology and Biotechnology of Marine Organisms (in commemoration of Academician Vladimir L. Kasyanov)”.

The Primorsky Aquarium– Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS and the Institute of World Ocean, Far-Eastern Federal University (IMO FEFU), signed a cooperation agreement. The two institutions agreed to work together in academic, scientific, and innovative fields.
10.05.2023 – Primorsky Aquarium gives name to female baby zebra bullhead shark
The female baby zebra bullhead shark that hatched at the facility in late January 2023 now has a name: Lucia.

The Primorsky Aquarium– Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS and the Institute of World Ocean, Far-Eastern Federal University (IMO FEFU), signed a cooperation agreement. The two institutions agreed to work together in academic, scientific, and innovative fields.
20.04.2023 – Aquarium’s visitors broaden their knowledge on ecology
On April 15, the Primorsky Aquarium – for the first time in its history – celebrated Ecological Knowledge Day. Its aquarists understand that their mission is to promote environmental awareness, cultivate ecoliteracy in the public and inform people about the most relevant environmental issues. The target audience of the event included both adult and young visitors.
20.04.2023 – Disk tetra, piranha’s relative, is for the first time on display at Primorsky Aquarium
More than 50 individuals of an interesting and attractive fish species, disk tetra, or black band myleus (Myloplus schomburgkii), have been added to one of the Tropical Rain Forest tanks. Experts spent a year and a half raising them to a large enough size to be exhibited.

Over the past decade, waters adjacent to the shores the Primorsky Aquarium and its marine mammal research facility lie on have been closely monitored by Aquarium’s researchers.
14.04.2023 – Bilateral Workshop "Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem in a Changing Ocean: toward Sustainable Development Goals"
On October 17–19, 2023, Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) and A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS (NSCMB FEB RAS) will hold a bilateral workshop with main topic: Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem in a Changing Ocean: toward Sustainable Development Goals in Qingdao, China. The workshop will combine oral and poster presentations, and discussions.
