16.02.2018 – Our Stick Insects Have Eaten Contents of a 500-liter Freezer
he stick insects (Phasmatidae family) living in the Aquarium’s Tropical Rainforest Exhibit are represented by the Annam walking sticks (Medauroidea extradentata) and the Sunny sticks (Sungaya inexpectata) originated in the Vietnam tropical forests and Philippines accordingly. They are kept at the temperature of 25-27°C.
13.02.2018 – Russian Science Day in the Prymorsky Aquarium
On February 8, Russian Science Day is celebrated. It is a professional holiday of academic society, university staff and science elite. Peter the Great initiated the holiday in 1724, when he founded the Academy of Science, which main purpose was to promote scientific research and achievements.

07.02.2018 – Chinese Fire-Belly Newts Have Had Offspring
A baby fire belly newt is just about three weeks old today. Resettling five adult Chinese fire-belly newts (Cynops orientalis) from a terrarium to be restored, specialists revealed eggs attached to the waterweed. The plant with the eggs was immediately removed from adults – the newts being predators can eat away both eggs and larvae.
07.02.2018 – Seahorses have settled down in the Japan Sea Exhibit
The common sea horses (Hippocampus kuda) arrived to the Primorsky Aquarium from Taiwan. After having been quarantined in the Scientific-and-Adaptation Building, they have moved to the Japan Sea Exhibit in the Main Building.
01.02.2018 – Continued Cooperation between NSCMB FEB RAS and Research Institutions of Republic of Korea
Cooperation of NSCMB FEB RAS and Korea Ecology Environment Research Institute (Taejon, South Korea) started three years ago with signing the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Korea Institute and the Primorsky Aquarium. In 2017, the same agreement was concluded between the Korea Institute and NSCMB FEB RAS with the Primorsky Aquarium affiliated.

Cryрtolaemus belongs to Coccinellidae family and has typical ladybird shape, about 6 mm in length, with black bright elytra and orange-brown head, antennae, pronotum and the legs.
06.12.2017 – The Primorsky Aquarium’s Zoo Veterinary Department Participates in Research of the National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS
Last week the National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS (NSCMB FEB RAS) received the first blood samples collected from the marine mammals - one common dolphin and two bottle-nosed dolphins, in the frame of cooperation between the NSCMB FEB RAS and the Zoo Veterinary Department of the Primorsky Aquarium – Branch of NSCMB FEB RAS.

20.11.2017 – Prymorsky Aquarium Has Explored the Beach Litter
The project has been carried out since 2014 and so it has developed methods. Participating in the project more than once, schoolchildren expertly instructed the Aquarium’s staff in the matters of laying out the areas, sorting and categorizing the litter according to eight types such as plastic, glass, rubber, etc., and identifying countries of origin. The results of counted and weighed by the categories litter items were entered into a table.
14.11.2017 – The Primorsky Aquarium’s Inhabitants to Star in the National Geographic TV Series
The Wild Edens: Russia TV series that will be broadcast on National Geographic Channel narrate and show incredible wildlife of Russia - from the south Primorsky Krai to the cold Yamal Peninsula located in the northwest Siberia. The film crew asked the Primorsky Aquarium for assistance in capturing Baikal seals for their TV series.

Japanese Shimadzu Corporation has opened a demonstration center in the National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS - the first in the Russian Far East.
09.10.2017 – Primorsky Aquarium participates in the International Biennale of Visual Art
At present, Vladivostok hosts the 9th Vladivostok International Biennale of Visual Art (VIBVA) that started 20 September and will run until 20 October 2017. The Primorsky Aquarium became one of the venues of the Biennale.
10.08.2017 – New Hydrobionts Arrived at the Primorsky Aquarium
Tropical freshwater fishes grown in the closed aquaria systems – Chinese high-fin banded sharks (Myxocyprinus asiaticus), Atlantic mudskippers (Periophthalmus barbarus), banded archerfishes (Toxotes jaculatrix), giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy), and blue/brown discuses (Symphysodon aequifasciatus)
